Begnas Lake is Pokhara's second-largest lake and its best-kept secret. Located about 15 km east of the city center in a tranquil rural setting, Begnas offers everything Phewa Lake does — mountain reflections, rowing boats, lush shorelines — but with a fraction of the crowds and a deeply authentic countryside atmosphere.
The lake is surrounded by terraced rice fields, small villages, and forested hillsides that attract an abundance of birdlife. A lazy afternoon on a wooden rowboat here, with the Annapurna range reflected on the still water, ranks among the most peaceful experiences in the Pokhara valley.
