The International Mountain Museum in Pokhara is the most comprehensive museum dedicated to the world's great mountain ranges and the people who inhabit and explore them. Opened in 2004, it spans a large campus and houses exhibits covering the geology, ecology, and human history of the Himalayas, Karakoram, Hindu Kush, and other major ranges.
The museum chronicles Nepal's mountaineering legacy — from the first ascent of Everest in 1953 through to modern expeditions — with original equipment, photographs, and personal accounts from legendary climbers. Exhibits on Sherpa culture, high-altitude ecology, and climate change make this a richly educational experience.
